Music Legend Tito Puente

Many music legends have Puerto Rican roots. For example, the talented Lin Manuel Miranda, creator of the musical Hamilton and co-composer of the songs for Disney's Moana. There's Jennifer Lopez or Marc Anthony. However, one of the most iconic Puerto Rican legends is Tito Puente. Born in Spanish Harlem, New York City, he went to Juilliard--the prestigious school of the arts--through the G.I. Bill. He went on to become a conductor, songwriter, and was named the King of Latin Jazz. His first major album, Dance Mania, produced iconic songs like, "Oye Como Va."

You can read about Tito Puente and other legends in my book, Song of the Boricua, on amazon.
