Living a Life Following Blue

I follow blue—blue skies, blue colors, blue sea.

I remember travelling to Europe in my twenties and planning it around the sea. My idea was to look at some history and hop into the cool, crystalline, iridescent, blue sea. Nothing beat swimming next to historic

vistas and villages.

When I was in Greece, the sea was encompassed in everything even influencing the architecture. The sea surrounds Greece.

I think this obsession with the color blue and the sea is in my blood. My father’s family were Corsican, merchant marines, in search of opportunity and finding a new life on “la isla del encanto,” Puerto Rico in the 1800s.

I learned as a child, riding the ferry from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Vieques, eating plantain chips, to fall in love with everything blue. Flying kites with my father, in the grass in front of Castillo San Cristóbal, sealed it for me forever.

If I follow the blue, I’m happy—blue pools, blue mist, even my next adventure to blue Hawaii. I’ve visited the Hawaiian islands many times—Kaua’i, O’ahu, Maui, and now Hawai’i Island (the Big Island).

I can’t wait to see the blue mist in the Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary or to float in the gentle South Pacific Ocean. I can’t wait to see stars overlooking a midnight, blue sea—to snorkel with the sea turtles in an ocean filled with the wonders of the world.

I encourage all to follow a trail of blue in their life. It’s a life filled of adventure, peace, and never ending sea.
